We sure missed having Thomas to help fix the fence, and hang the new bird feeder (shown above Charles' shoulder). Sorry he wasn't feeling great. See him in a few weeks. Thanks for the visit.

Seeing this giant squirrel (NOT HH! -- next to him) along the main highway thru Simonton made us turn around and try their homemade pralines. They were awfully good!

Russell had some good photos of the many butterflies that happened to be fluttering by. Charles had one on his fingertip right before this photo was snapped. We'll withhold the water-fight photos until Michelle and Mark recover (and approve) but the girl was very outnumbered by the boys. Dianne would have been a definite asset in that adventure.

First Day of School

The first day of school has come and gone. There were a few tears as the boys got settled into their new classrooms, but by the end of the day they were passed that and excited about the new year.

"Bad" Performance

Kids Fun Camp, the camp that the boys go to during the day, had their "Star Search" show to mark the end of the summer. Each age group put together a dance and this year's theme was Michael Jackson.

 Sitting on the back porch, we heard a big crash, and went to the center hill to find this tree down. It hadn't been as windy today as the previous days, but root rot won this battle. Cows seemed to enjoy the green leaves!

Rockdale February

We had fun despite very cold windy weather. We're happy to finally have a gate opener after a six year wait. Thomas tried his skill at photography with some good results. And who needs a jungle gym when you have a cattle pen? Happy belated birthday, Russell, and pre-birthday for T.

  Weather reports say we are in extreme drought, no significant rain for the past 18 months. Evidence here at the tank where we fished from the bank last year.
