Let the Games Begin

Everyone came over tonight for a little pre-baptism celebration. Everyone included Harvey and Jane, Bill and Nikki, Margorie Perrine, Lynn Taylor, Michelle and Mark, Emma, Maddie, and Claire. The festivities were kicked off with food, wine, and a spirited game of Trivial Pursuit in which the girls competed against the boys, with Margorie acting as the official question reader. The first game was won by the girls while the boys were victorious in the second round.

Charles Takes the Plunge

This afternoon Charles climbed up the playset in the backyard and went down the "big" slide, feet first, all by himself... with no prompting!

Lynn and the Girls Come to Houston

Lynn and the girls arrived in Houston this week and hit the ground running. Over the weekend they, along with Bill, Nikki, Dianne, and Charles traveled to Brenham to stomp grapes at the winery and eat at the local airport. Then they went to Washington on the Brazos for a little Texas education.

Weekend Getaway

Dianne and I were able to get away and spend the weekend in Galveston for our anniversary. Bill and Nikki took care of the boys for the entire weekend. We caught some rays, a few brews, and I even caught a movie. A very relaxing weekend, but by Sunday we were really ready to see the boys, both of whom had a great weekend too!

A Little Eerie

It's like a scene from Poltergeist, or finding a crop circle. You're playing with Charles in the office. You turn away for a second to check something on the computer, and when you swing back around in your chair, everything has been stacked....

A Day at the Zoo

About 10 o'clock this morning we decided that today would be a good day to visit the Houston Zoo. So we packed up Charles and Thomas and headed out.

Now, you know that it is going to be a good trip when you run into ducks before ever getting out of the parking lot on the way to the entrance!

The first stop where we took a picture was the elephants. Charles may not look to happy here, but that's just because he is still getting over the giraffes... he was having a ball!

We tried to head straight to the Children's Zoo so that Charles could get a little "face time" with the animals, and so that Dianne could find a nice spot for Thomas to have lunch. Here Charles comes face to face with his first sheep. At least the lady said it was a sheep... does not look like any sheep I have ever seen. Don't they have more hair? In any case, Charles was in a constant state of "Baaah" and his finger got quite the workout.

Here we are at the primate exhibit. We tried to visit the Gorilla, but unfortunately he had recently passed away and the exhibit was closed. But the primate habitat was also high on Dianne's list so we went there next. Charles was still very excited but getting tired.

And of course, on our way to get some ice cream just before heading out, we came across the duck pond. Where we HAD to stop and feed the furry little guys.

And then it was home. Charles did not even make it out of Herman Park before he was out... What a day! (now what are we going to do tomorrow?)

Morning Coffee

Trying to take care of the boys this morning and let Dianne sleep... No success. Anyway, just testing this from my phone.

Sunshine!

Looks like the weeks of rain are finally coming to an end. It was dry enough this afternoon to spend some time in the backyard. Of course, the heat and the humidity kept us from staying outside too long... Charles headed for the door after about 30 minutes.

Lynn comes for a visit

Dianne's sister Lynn came through Houston for a brief visit. They all took a couple of field trips in the rain, which included a stop at CiCi's pizza for a little pie and brownies. And also a stop to Target to pick-up "toddler friendly" art supplies which included special markers and paints for Charles, our budding artist. He actually woke up this morning and went straight for the crayons instead of heading to the kitchen for some breakfast.
