My Texas bird book has the perfect ID photo of this "Yellow-crowned Night-Heron" that is mostly nocturnal with a "wetlands" habitat (ie, Houston anywhere. Ha.) but an "uncommon summer resident in eastern third south to the Guadalupe River." It has a range to SE US coastal regions all the way to Peru and southern Brazil. It can be 24" long with a 42" wing span. It's voice is "aaak." (In case you want to initiate a conversation.)
thats the bird i was telling you about... the one that i saw that three o'clock in the morning. and everyone thought i was nuts...

ReplyDeleteIf I was up at 3 in the morning-I'd probably be so tired I would start talking to it.
